No Spoiler Review: Sonic the Hedgehog 2

No spoilers, but we still going in!

Article by Brandon the Hero Guy

A Classic Game, An Ancient Feud

Sonic The Hedgehog 2, based off the hit series Video Game character from Sega, is written by Patt Casey and directed by Jeff Fowler. It stars Ben Schawrtz, James Mardsen, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, Colleen O’ Shaughnessy, Jim Carrey, Shemar Moore, and Natasha Rothwell. Sonic 2 takes place after the events of the first Sonic film, when the discovery of the Chaos Emeralds is uncovered. Eggman (Jim Carrey) attempts to use its power for his own personal gain to control infinite universes with the help of Knuckles (Idris Elba), who has a unrelenting grudge against Sonic due to a past ancestral feud. So, now both Sonic (Josh Schawrtz) and Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessy) along with Tom (James Mardsen) and Maddie (Tika Sumpter) to stop this powerful threat that plans to release use the power of the Chaos Emeralds.

This movie had a very fun and joyful story that will really give you nostalgic memories from playing the original Sonic Games and right off the bat this movie picks up where it left off starting with some fun action sequences that will really get the audience going, the character interaction between the characters were very well executed and it felt really energetic in an incredibly humorous way my favorite interaction was between Sonic and Tails which is one of the most famous video game duos since the early 90s which made so many Sonic Fans overjoyed to see them together on screen and you get to know so much more about Tails especially with his backstory and where he’s from and this movie really made him very relatable which was pulled off effortlessly.

Now the character who was truly the show stealer was Knuckles he was a force to be reckoned with you got to know even more of his backstory as well and why he’s after the Chaos emeralds also the history of what his people went through along with his hatred for Sonic and why their rivalry is important both him and Sonic have some tense interactions as enemies especially when they 1st meet which really got the crowd excited and the action scenes were insanely well done and incredibly fun to watch.

The movie definitely had a lot heart put into it and you can tell that the director is a Sonic Fan with all the references and callbacks to the early 90’s games as well as the hidden Easter eggs, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was a really fun and well thought out sequel for the old and new generation of fans as well as for the Gamers and Anime fans that grew up with this movie, also the human actors did extremely well really like the hilarious interactions between Tom and Maddie Hopefully we See a James Mardsen return as Scott Summers in Multiverse of Madness since the rumors of him reprising have been all over comic resources and Tika Sumpter can play Ororo Munroe in a future X-Men MCU movie they would be the most awesome Mutant leaders in an Marvel Studios X-Men movie, so if you love Sonic you’re going to love the sequel.
