No Spoiler Review: Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness

No spoilers, but we still going in!

Article by Brandon the Hero Guy

So many Easter Eggs, So Little Time…

Dr Strange Multiverse Madness is the main kick off MCU feature for the Multiverse arc. It’s written by Michale Waldron and Directed by Sam Raimi. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Bruce Campbell, Julian Hilliard, Jett Klyne, and Rachel McAdams.

This movie takes place after the events of Loki, Wanda Vision, and Spider-Man No Way Home. The Multiverse is on the brink of decimation. The only one who’s power plays a part in ending this is America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez).

With Strange’s help they need to find a multi-versal artifact called The Book of Vishanti to put everything back into place. However, the Sorcerer Strange and Chavez are being chased down by a Scarlett Witch who’s been corrupted by the Dark Hold and driven insane by power.

She attempts to use the Multiverse for her own personal gain which brings horrors that the heroes never could imagine.

Okay the story is easy to follow, as with any other MCU movie. However, there are a few weak points with the writing that definitely could’ve been handled a bit more. You can definitely tell there was 30 minutes of scenes cut from this movie.

Definitely some involvement from the Studio, but besides that the story did flow in pretty well and it has grittier and darker tone with a lot of horror elements, which Sam Raimi is really talented at with his craft.

The characters were all spot on. Cumberbatch definitely nailed the character of Doctor Strange once again. Also, we get to see more of Strange really face some insanely unimaginable challenges while learning very dangerous forms of magic and sorcery. It shows the darker side of magic users in the MCU and his relationship with Chavez was really good as well.

It made a lot of sense for her character to be a part of this movie due to her mysterious powerset that plays a key role with the Multiverse, however the character that really shines in this moive is

Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) she was incredibly terrifying and filled with malicious intent and corruption. We got to see the true Scarlett Witch and there were so many references to the House of M Comics as well.

In order to really understand her motives, you have to watch Wanda Vision which ties into Multiverse of Madness. She really shows her horrific side in this movie as well. Sam Raimi did not hold back Scarlett Witch really lives up to her name and reputation.

Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness Movie Poster

One of my favorite sequences with her his definitely with the Illuminati (No Spoilers). I won’t say who else is in the roster, but the other characters that appear in this sequence made the audience go crazy. The action sequences were really well done and gruesomely brutal there were some scenes that could’ve had almost made this movie and R rating.

Especially with the direction that this one was going, but I wish we could’ve seen more of the surprise characters. We be awesome to have more sequences in this movie especially with 3 of them being the most vital characters.

How each of them was handled had some of the audience raising eyebrows, however it’s completely understandable why this was done. Especially after watching the Loki series and the explanation of multi-versal Variants.

All in all, Multiverse of Madness is definitely a movie to enjoy it really gives more possibilities of what the MCU could do for upcoming future movies down the line which means Multiverse of Madness just started more build up for what’s in store.
