The Final Feature in the Franchise
Article by Brandon the Hero Guy
Jump scares, check!
Halloween Ends is the final feature of The Halloween franchise. It’s written and directed by David Gordon Green and stars; Jamie Lee Curtis, James Jude Courtney, Nick Castle, Andi Matichak, Kyle Richards, Judy Greer, Rohan Campbell, Emily Brinks, Will Patton and Omar J. Doses.
Halloween Ends is the final chapter that tells the story of Laurie Strode’s (Jamie Lee Curtis) concluding battle against the horrific slasher Michael Myers who’s terrorized not only Laurie, but the entire community of Haddonfield.
This causes many of the townspeople to be in constant haunting fear after the events of Halloween Kills. Which makes Michael Myers almost a superstitious entity.
Everything changes when a character named Corey (Rohan Campbell) becomes a key factor in the return of the Slasher. Laura along with her daughter Allison Nelson (Andi Matichak) get ready to put an end to Michael Myers’ murder spree once and for all.
Now to be honest I’ve never seen the original Halloween movies…Don’t come for me. So far just the current ones. This one felt a bit less terrifying than the last two. The others had some stakes that really set the slasher tone for the character.
And you don’t really get much of him in this movie. The story was pretty decent, and that was one of the main points. The story really stuck out is that this feature.
It was really supposed to be about the final confrontation between Laurie and Michael. As Mike has been hunting and terrorizing her throughout the Halloween movies. And I get what they were trying to do with the Cory side arch, but definitely could’ve been a supporting character honestly.
Now the aspects I enjoyed from this feature were definitely the jump scare sequences, which really caught me off guard at times. Especially with one sequence that revolves around Cory and a group of teens (Won’t Spoil).
But it gets incredibly gruesome and brutal, which is how a Myers movie is supposed to be! The 3rd act was pretty well done.
Although I enjoyed some aspects of the movie, I feel this one may be controversial amongst fans of the Halloween franchise. Especially to those who watched these movies since the original Trilogy.
Halloween is solid watch and it is something definitely worth a watch on the 31st so without further ado I give Halloween Ends 7/10.
