So Long, Farewell, Goodbye

A heartfelt ending to an amazing run…
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is the final run of the original Guardians team in the MCU. It’s written and directed by James Gunn, and stars Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldona, Karen Gilliam, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, Chukwudi Iwuji and Will Poulter.
This movie tells the final journey of the Guardians, as well as starting a new beginning for the next line up. I admit I don’t approve of what Gunn is currently doing with DC, but you have to give credit where credit is due with his work on the Guardians.
This movie will definitely pull your heartstrings with some emotional moments, especially when you got to know this team in The MCU from Phase 2 to Phase 5. The 1st half of this movie you think it’s about the team, but it really centers around Rocket Racoon ( Bradley Cooper).
Rocket’s origins are particularly gruesome. His history with The High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), who’s probably the most vile and inhumane villain we’ve been introduced to in the MCU, carry the plot of the movie.
This movie really tackled issues of animal cruelty. The High Evolutionary makes his comic counterpart look innocent. There’re some scenes surrounding Rocket’s past that will be pretty hard to watch, but it also shows the massive growth he’s had since then; which makes him one of the most solid members of The Guardians.
Also, Adam Warlock honestly, he had some good moments and he was shown to be an extremely powerful character though he definitely should’ve been introduced in Phase 3 since he ties in with Thanos and the Infinity Saga. Though it’s understandable why it was done like this due to the upcoming Secret Wars event.
One of my favorite moments with the characters was with Gamora. She stole the show for me, and became one of my favorite members of the Guardians. She was just as ruthless as her 2018 counterpart, and had some really good scenes with Peter Quil (Chris Pratt). Zoe Saldona went all out in this movie as her character and had the perfect send-off.
Like all MCU movies, yes it has its humor. Some of it didn’t really land for me. There were some comedic scenes with Drax that were pretty cringe at times, but the action sequences made up for it especially a hallway scene with The Guardians, which reminded me of The Defenders fight sequence.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 was a good love letter to the fans of the original team. They gave them a perfect emotional send-off, with references from the past two Guardians movies which really hit home. And now, without further ado I give Guardians 3 an 8/10
