It felt new, but it felt like Transformers

The best Transformers movie yet…
Transformers: Rise of The Beast is the reboot to the Transformers franchise taking place after the events of Bumblebee (2018). It’s written and directed by David Caple junior. This movie tells the origin story of the Maximals, who are led by Optimus Primal (Ron Perlman), escaping their home world. Fleeing from the planet eating Cybertronian, Unicron, who’s after a transport key that will help him conqueror and feed off other world’s; notably earth where the Autobots have resided for the past few years.
Optimus (Peter Cullen) and his surviving group of Autobot refugees learn about the transport key which can send them back to Cybertron. Together, both The Autobots and Maximals, along with their human allies, Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos) and Archeologist Elena (Dominique Fishback), ally together to find and defend the Key from Unicron and his Terracon army lead by a Scourge (Peter Dinklage).
This movie story was well paced and didn’t waste any time introducing us to the new characters, notably the Maximals.
The first half of the movie mostly focuses on their origins which was one of my favorite scenes because we got to know more about other Cybertronian characters of the Transformers universe.
It gets intense letting the audience know what kind of theme this movie has. And it’s understandable why a lot of fans don’t like the human characters in the transformers movies as much, but the ones in this one both Noah Diaz and Elena were definitely the best human characters in the franchise; not to mention how relatable Diaz was.
Basically, Diaz is struggling in the streets of New York to try to help his family, notably his little brother and mother. He tries to find a job, and even go as far as to steal just to sell it off the streets to make money. He is willing to go all the way to help his ill brother.
Also, I really liked Elena, played by Dominique Fishback. She definitely was a huge MVP for the Autobots and Maximals; using her Archeological research to aid them in many situations (which I won’t spoil).
Honestly, we need to see both these characters again in future movies because they really made you relate to them. It was also really good to see The Autobots back on the big screen and their designs were top notch with a mixture of both G1 and Michael Bay’s designs. Optimus (Peter Cullen) was definitely shown to be a strong dignified leader, with his own flaws as well but he still carries on.
Bee’s 2018 spinoff feature. He’s not in the movie as much due to a huge major situation (won’t spoil) but it pays of end the 3rd act. Now Mirage is probably the most hilarious Autobot in the movie. He had the entire theater hollering! I liked the friendship he had with Noah; it was definitely one of the highlights of this movie.
Their comedic moments where comedy gold, but they also had serious situations as well. This team up rivals both Sam Witwicky and Bumblebee from the 07 movies. Honestly, I would’ve loved to see both Arcee and Elena have some scenes together, which was a missed opportunity. Especially after seeing the 1st trailer for this movie.
Now the Maximals definitely stole the show in every scene that they were in and it brought back so many nostalgic memories of the original Beast Wars show from the 90’s. Optimus Primal was also a huge highlight character and showed a lot of respect for Optimus. It was also exciting to see Cheetor and Rhinox on the big screen!
The Terracons stole the show in a few scenes, especially Scourge he was cruel, calculating and merciless. I like how he takes insignias from the Autobots he kills and wears them as trophies; similar to General Grievous from Star Wars when he kills Jedi and keeps their Light Sabers as a spoil of war. One of the biggest pay offs of this movie is seeing both Autobots and Maximals fighting together. Both G1 and Beast Wars fans erupted with excitement, and the 3rd act was the probably the best end fight sequence of a Transformers movie.
Honestly It was a lot more exciting than the portals scene from Endgame. It even had callbacks to the original shows and Bayverse movies. This reboot just opened the door to so many stories they can do with these characters, and it was definitely something fans will enjoy. So, if you’re a G1 or Beast Wars fan this definitely the movie for you or if you want an action-packed movie of alien robots fighting highly recommend watching this, so without further ado I give Transformers: Rise of The Beast a 10/10
